About the Author
Johnny Gruelle (1880-1938), the much-loved creator of the brother and sister rag dolls Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy, started his career as a newspaper cartoonist. By beating out fifteen hundred entrants in a comic-drawing contest sponsored by the New York Herald, he earned a two-thousand-dollar prize and an extended contract to provide a weekly installment of his cartoon "Mr. Twee Deedle." In addition to designing the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, he soon began writing and illustrating make-believe tales and adventure stories for children. His love of the unknown and his fascination with science and outer space helped inspire The Magical Land of Noom.

5 years old or 31, it was magic

What a precious book. I had a Raggedy Ann doll as a child but never read the stories. This series of short stories allowed my soon to be five year old son and I connect at night in a new way. He would grab his Raggedy Ann doll and we would settle down on his bed to read. The stories are long enough to have depth but short enough to keep his attention most nights. There are lessons in almost every story and you always hear the message of being happy no matter what. Raggedy' happiness drew everyone to her.

how Raggedy ann and Andy became America most loved dolls

This is a other very good book of raddegy ann you can learn a lot about how she came to be American people most loved doll today she is still loved you put her in a little girls arms they still love her and Andy in little boys arms he will love him it gives children's alot of comfort when they feel sad or need something to love

A childhood favorite revisited

I remember loving my Raggedy Ann & Andy stories a a little girl. I just had to download them to enjoy again. In my opinion, they stand the test of time well. The would probably be good for little ones whose parents read to them, and who appreciate the fantasy and innocence of old-time kids books.
