About the Author
Lewis Carroll was the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, an English writer, mathematician, Anglican deacon, and photographer. Best known for his classics Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, and Jabberwocky, Carroll was also an accomplished inventor who created an early version of what is today known as Scrabble. The publication of Alice s Adventures in Wonderland in 1865 brought Carroll a certain level of fame, although he continued to supplement his income through his work as a mathematics tutor at Christ Church, Oxford College. Carroll s whimsical characters and nonsensical verse resonated with Victorian-era readers, and his books continue to be enjoyed by numerous modern societies dedicated to his promoting his works.

No poems!

I'd like to add my voice to those commenters who have complained about the lack of poems in this edition. Whoever scanned it must not know anything about the book, because the poems are absolutely necessary. For example, it's really absurd to have Humpty Dumpty explaining the words in "Jabberwocky" without the poem! Anyone who has never read this story would be baffled.

Content yes, binding and formatting - no way!

The content is, obviously, as expected. The two-star review is based on the publisher's (Millennium Publications) terrible binding / formatting. The inner margins are sooooooo close to the binding that you practically have to fold the book flat and then press down to be able to read the content. I'm sure it was to cut down on the page count and make the book as cheaply as possible, but come on! It'd be nice to be able to read this thing. Shame on the publisher for such shoddy, cheapness on such a classic publication! (I also just noticed that the book is titled "Alice Adventures ... and not the possessive "Alice's ...)
